How to Make Homemade French Baguettes

Chef John shows how to make bakery quality french baguettes from your own home. Follow the basic instructions and see how to make a great baking recipe with simple ingredients.

This is a very simple recipe to follow.

Start with a quarter teasppon of yeast and mix with room temperature water.

After a quick stir add in some salt and some regular all-purpose flour.

Stir until you get a thick dough.

Wrap the bowl mix in plastic and store in your turned-off oven for up to 12 hours until it doubles in size.

Tip onto a well-floured surface.

Pat the mix into a rectangle and shape the bread into the required loaf shapes.

Put on a baking tray again and cover with cling film leaving them to rise again for 1.5 hours.

Once ready bake the loaves for 15 minutes at 550 degrees Farenheight.

On the 5 and 10 minute mark – spray the loaves lightly with water.

Once browned take out the oven and let them rest and cool down before eating.
